House Bill 397

DIGEST OF SB 397 (Updated January 21, 2004 6:37 pm - DI 14)
Board of animal health issues. Allows the board of animal health (board) to hold emergency meetings using specified means of communications. Provides the board with authority over pests of animals and objects that could harbor a pest or disease. Allows the board to pay certain indemnity costs related to condemned animals and objects, including disposal and disinfection costs. Prohibits indemnity in certain circumstances. Removes the limit that can be paid for cattle because of tuberculosis. Repeals certain definitions. Makes technical amendments..
As this reads the state of Indiana {you and I} could {and would} be responsible for reimbursing costs and possibly the value of any animal or herd depopulated {politically correct for destroyed}.
The cervid farmers will support this one, it even pays for "disinfection." Guess we pay for the sterilization of their property.........
