Took my 2nd bird, and 1st tom this past Thu on public land.
He was 23lbs, 19mm spurs, 10 3/8" beard. We were hearing VERY FEW gobbles and seeing less birds than usual, so had to go get this guy. I belly crawled ~100 yards and laid down in tall grass, wary jakes and hens almost busted me, and after running the jakes away from his lady, he came right to me for a 16yd shot.
My buddy took a NICE tom the next day. 24lb, 30mm spurs, 10 3/4" beard and had to work for him too!
Here is mine - sorry for the LARGE pics - still working on that...

Nice bird weedhopper...Congrats on your first one!!! Wouldn't matter if it is a 14 pounder or a 30 pound monster, a tricky feat no matter what. Congrats!!!!

Thanks fellas. I'm pretty happy for my first one. This turkey stuff is addicting,,and I still have a bunch to learn. That's what makes it fun..
If anyone is wondering,,,we cut the fan off my bird and replaced the hokey vinyl fan in my buddies Pretty Boy decoy with the fan off my bird, for a more realistic look. The fan supplied with the decoy sucks.
No damage was done to the tail, and it's pinned and drying in my garage.
